Today we went for an amazing hike. It was so beautiful and green (we’ve had some rain the past few days). By the time I arrived home I was famished! Thankfully I had all of our juices made for the day so I could guzzle it right down. I tried something different today. I made all the juices this morning so I wouldn’t have to go back into the kitchen until tomorrow. The exception would be if I’m hungry tonight and I want to mix up a quick master cleanse drink (I make mine with 3 cups water, 1 cup orange juice, juice of 1-2 lemons, 1 tablespoon dark raw agave, and lots of cayenne). It’s really like a treat and so easy to make compared to the normal juices.
I’m not usually one to conform. I like to research, learn from others and then weave my own blanket for life. I’m an extremely healthy gal and I don’t have any weight that I need to lose. So, I’m considering a juice feast type diet for the next couple weeks that I am happy about and excited to do, because right now, the juice feast, as it is, isn’t really working for me. I always tell people, “listen to your own body” and so I want to make sure I practice what I preach. I don’t want to feel guilty because I make my own “Kristen Suzanne’s Juice Feasting Program” and it doesn’t follow the status quo. I will still reap many benefits for all the juice I’ll consume and the times I allow my digestion to rest.
Another thing I must take into account is that I’m active and I like physical activity so I am very eager to up my hemp protein powder intake. The plan I’m starting to create that I’d like to try is something like 2 days on, 1 day off. The 2-days on would be juices during the day (so I’ll be juice fasting all day) with a healthy dinner in the evening (or possibly more juice) – I will gauge it daily with respect to whether I continue juice and skip the meal. The 1-day off will be juices and/or smoothies during the day (meaning it’s still all liquids during the day) with a healthy dinner in the evening (again, I’ll gauge on a daily basis whether I eat the dinner or continue with juices/smoothies). It might turn out that I juice for a few days straight, then do a day of smoothies and then a day where I have juice and smoothies and then a healthy meal. The point is, I’ll have many times where I’m getting some great cleansing and fasting time in, but I’m still really excited about it and not in the kitchen juicing 2 gallons a day (my boyfriend will support whatever program I put us on…am I lucky or what? I love him so much!). Long term, my plan is similar to how it was before the juice feast…living a very high-raw lifestyle that is mostly smoothies and juices for breakfast and lunch (with some days having fruit and salad for breakfast and lunch respectively) and some sort of dinner (usually Raw, but sometimes I opt for a healthy, low-fat cooked vegan meal). I love this lifestyle because it offers me so much flexibility, I’m very happy, and I feel amazing on it. There were times in the past when I needed to be all Raw because I didn’t tolerate cooked vegan food, but these days I tolerate it great (on the few occasions that I have it). So, I just take it day by day.
I think it’s very important to be flexible and make changes as necessary if something doesn’t seem to jibe right. My overall goal is happiness, health, and enjoying my life to the fullest. Why would anyone want to do otherwise?
