My Skin Care Routine (Video) & Food Journals

by Kristen in food journal, irish moss, video

I get asked a lot about my skin care regime. While it changes as I try new products, there are a few things that stay the same (eating clean and using clean products). I recently uploaded a video showing you my skin care routine as of late. Check it out below!

Some beauty goodies in my bathroom.

Honorable mentions:

  1. Clean Food - What I eat makes a difference in how my skin behaves, and I firmly believe in keeping skin firm (ehem… minimal aging) with lots of hydrating, phytonutrient / antioxidant rich, and pure organic foods. We are what we eat.
  2. Enema - Although I’m new to these (read how I do them here), I’ve heard from many people who swear that enemas helped their skin conditions. Let the fun begin! Sparkle everywhere!
  3. Cleansers – I’m a fan of many different ones, but the main ones I seem to keep coming back to are Dr. Alkaitis and 100% Pure. The MUST HAVE  for extra great results is the Clarisonic Mia.
  4. Toner – Good ol’ rose water. I’m stoked to find that I can buy it organic now!
  5. Moisturizer – Again, lots of delicious choices to hydrate your largest organ. Lately, I’m singing the praises of Pristine Beauty’s Hooray for Brallywood Butta and I’ve also been using these divine organic raw oils.
  6. TreatmentsIrish moss gel mask, fruit peel mask, and fresh cut aloe. I dabble in some treatment masks from various companies from time to time, but I love the simplicity of homemade goodies. They’re so fresh and potent!

I also dry skin brush on my body a couple of times a week.

How to Make Irish Moss Gel (VIDEO)

I really wish I didn’t wait so long to learn how to make Irish Moss Gel. It’s an amazing food that is fun for raw foods and great for beauty. I use Irish Moss Gel in all kinds of raw foods: smoothies, desserts, yogurt, soups, nut milks, and on my face for a beauty mask. In the video below I’ll show you how to make your own. (Buy your irish moss here.) And, following the video below, I share step-by-step instructions as well. Enjoy!

*Note… there is an irish moss on the market that I bought where I’ve heard it only needs to be soaked for about an hour in hot water. It also appears to be a bit less dirty. I haven’t tried it yet.

Step-by-Step instructions with photos…

Raw Beauty Tip: Fruit On My Face

Hi Everyone!

Here’s a quick, easy, and “tasty” beauty tip! The next time you’re prepping some fruit or veggies for your salad, smoothie, or juice… take the parts you’re cutting off to throw away and rub on your skin for a quick nutrient packed mask. For example, when I cut off the peel from an orange or grapefruit, I take the inside of the peel (which has some flesh on it) and I rub it all over my face. If I’m cutting off the greens from strawberries, I rub the fleshy part on my face before tossing the greens into my bunny bowl (that’s the bowl of scraps I toss off our patio to the bunnies – they love organic produce!). Cucumbers, pineapple(!), papaya, and apples (I rub the apple’s core on my face) are awesome, too. These are natural and effective ways to enhance your beauty. Think about it… nutrients straight from the source, right? You’ll feel awesome while you’re doing it, too. Just remember to wash it off after about 5-10 minutes.
