Raw Recipe: BFF Kelp Noodles (Plus Awesome Variations!)

I have written in many of my Raw Reboot food journals that I’m eating BFF Kelp Noodles. Every time I Facebook and Tweet about them, I get asked about the ingredients. Let’s put that question to rest and learn how to make them right here and now.

BFF Kelp Noodles

Let’s start by understanding that there are some staples to this recipe but the rest of it is open to different options. I’ve made different variations of this many times and they’re all superbly fabulous. I also want to state that I am not generally a kelp noodle fan. However, I learned a couple of years ago some ways to enjoy them, but this latest recipe, BFF Kelp Noodles, really takes the cake and hits it out of the park. They’re forever near and dear to my heart.

My 90-Day Clean Raw Food Mission – Kristen Suzanne’s Raw Reboot™ – Update #7

I have more to say about my update but I’m short on time so I’ll post more thoughts later. Basically… I’m eating a high fat diet to keep calories up to prevent weight loss because I am burning too many calories. Most days it’s not a big deal but I do have some days where I just don’t want all the fat. I’d love some beans or something. But, I’ve kept with the raw. I’m second guessing my raw reboot during a time where I’m burning so many calories.

I’m more than 1/2-way through the journey. Today marks 49 days. I’m on such a roll but I need to listen to my body. I’m thinking the plan might be this… Keep going until I complete day 60. Then, I’ll start the second stage of my Raw Reboot which includes some cooked vegan foods, but limiting it to beans, lentils, tofu, oats, etc. I won’t include bread or pasta or refined foods like that.

Meanwhile, here’s my food journal…

PS. I LOOOOOOOOVE MY NORWALK JUICER!!!!!!!! I can’t wait to tell you all about her!!!!!!!

BPA? In My Glass Mason Jar Lids?! Crap.

by Kristen in Kristen Suzanne, raw food

Thank you for sharing in the excitement of my purchasing a Norwalk Juicer! After I bought it, I was envisioning how my juicing process will be. In the past, I used quart size glass mason jars, but I decided I wanted to move to pint size and drink a pint at a time, so that means my juices will get less exposure to oxygen if I store them in smaller quantities.

OMG! I Bought a Norwalk Juicer

by Kristen in Kristen Suzanne, raw food

Holy shit! There goes my potty mouth again. I guess I’m starting to get more comfortable around you guys. I ordered a Norwalk Juicer. Do I even need to say anymore???? Ok, I will! I ordered it on Sunday night. :)

Greg and I have been talking about the awesomeness of the Norwalk Juicer (a.k.a. the ultimate in juicing, hands down, the highest quality, bestest – yes, I just wrote “bestest” juice, because it warrants that. Ever. On the planet.) I’m sure you can sense a bit of my excitement. Where was I? Oh yeah, Greg and I have been discussing the Norwalk for about three years. I’ve had it on my vision board since then. Recently, we decided to take the plunge and buy the sucker!

by Kristen in Kristen Suzanne, raw food

Let’s just be honest and to the point. This post involves talk of colons, poop, speculums going up the bum, and more. Therefore, you might want to pass. But, I know there are some very interested folks out there in hearing more about enemas and colonics. Today, I’m sharing my recent adventures in them.

My 90-Day Clean Raw Food Mission – Kristen Suzanne’s Raw Reboot™ – Update #4

Whew! It’s been one of those “mama in demand” types of week. Kamea is teething so we’re getting oodles of snuzzling time, where I reflect on my vision, goals, intentions, and bliss out. I gotta say that I’m reeeeeally loving life and the growth I’m experiencing, the learning, adapting, and becoming the best Total Ethereal Goddessness I can be.

Because of my schedule lately, I haven’t been able to get to my computer to work as much, so I wasn’t able to post the review of my new dehydrator, The Sedona by TriBest. I will work on it this week (fingers crossed). I also have book reviews coming, my post on enemas (and my first colonic is Thursday!), Irish moss (how to prepare it, why use it, and how to use it), beauty rituals (face, body, and teeth), and soooo much more to share. Oh, and I’m working on my January email newsletter (sign up here). So stay tuned for all of these goodies!

My 90-Day Clean Raw Food Mission – Kristen Suzanne’s Raw Reboot™ – Update #3

Ethereal Goddessness

Ahhhhh what can I say? I’m blissing out with my new life. I’m transforming and staying focused yet opened. Everything is awesome. Wonderful. Feeeeeeeling beautiful inside and out. I’m making changes like never before in my life and it’s exciting me beyond measure. I’m stronger mentally, physically, and spiritually. I feel like the there’s healthy pruning going on inside my head… especially with TV cleanse I wrote about in post #1 that’s slowly taking shape.

Don’t you love this picture? It was the card I selected from a deck back in the fall when I started thinking about the need for a transformation, knowing things needed to change in my life. I had it set aside until I noticed it this week! How friggin’ perfect, eh?

By the way, I’ve been getting awesome feedback and questions in the comments of both posts (#1 and #2) so far… be sure to check them out as I’ve answered questions, etc.

OK! Things I’m working on and noticing the past few days…

My 90-Day Clean Raw Food Mission – Kristen Suzanne’s Raw Reboot™

A new time is upon me. A new dawn. A new life. As I wrote in a previous post, I’m feeling particularly drawn to a clean, easy, and pure raw lifestyle right now. I officially started it December 27 and will keep at it until April 1, at which time I’ll reassess, possibly dial things back a bit.

I feel in my heart of hearts that an all-raw diet can be wonderful when done correctly, as well as a moderate or high raw diet. (All vegan, of course). I don’t think cooked, whole vegan foods are the devil. Actually, I think they’re great when you want them. My philosophy has always been to listen to my body, which draws me to various levels of raw at different times of the year. The body has cycles. Rhythms. I go with them.

Right now, I’m focusing on eating 100% all raw and living foods. Consider it a full blown Raw Reboot. But as you’ll see, I’m going beyond just food with this. Furthermore, I’m being mindful of breastfeeding and also trying to get pregnant (therefore I’m tracking calories so I don’t dip too low). If I weren’t doing those things, this plan would be lighter.

UPDATE! (12/27/11) I just bought a BUNCH more stuff. The Andrea’s Oils I ordered that are noted below just arrived and they’re spectacular. I’m in love. I can’t wait to share them with Kamea (in her diet and on her cute little bod!). PLUS! The Raw Food World online store just announced their AT-COST January specials 4 days early so you can use the coupon noted below on those, too! I ordered sea spaghetti, coconut oil, more dental floss, Irish moss, cacao products, more pili nuts, hot sauces, radiant love butter (hubba hubba! lol), more Andreas’ oils, cherry and coconut extracts, MORE chlorella, NuTru DHA with EPA, and more! I’m stocked up for the next 6 months.

I’ve been making a lot of purchases at The Raw Food World online store (owned by the lovely Matt Monarch and Angela Stokes-Monarch). And, I mean it when I say a lot! lol! I can’t help myself, I keep going back for more (the products are superb quality) and they have an awesome holiday coupon going on from now until the end of December. Plus, the At-Cost Specials going on right now… WHOA! Good stuff! The deals are too good to pass up.

Just a few of my favorite things...

Want to know what I’ve been buying? (It’s a long list, but I plan on buying even more. I’m all about stocking up on things when they’re on sale and the Holiday coupon is too good to pass up!)
