I Think It’s Getting Close…

by Kristen Suzanne in Uncategorized

My waters seem to be leaking consistently, a little bit at a time, but no gushes.

My surges are pretty consistent, but not super close, and feel fine.

Midwife says I appear to be in “early-early labor, to stop counting, and get some rest.”

YAY!!!!!

Baby’s Piggy Bank

by Kristen Suzanne in Uncategorized

For those of you who wanted to see my art work (that I wrote about in this post)… here is a picture of the piggy bank I painted for our baby. I chose primarily white, red, and black paints, because they’re stimulating colors which are supposed to be good for baby’s development. :)

F*ck! Interrupting This Program…

by Kristen Suzanne in Uncategorized

I came across this post and must share it. I’m in quite a state right now as I type this – fired up is putting it mildly. I’m beyond angry. The sadness coursing through my veins… I just don’t understand how people can behave this way.

Update June 10: Agnes, my friend on Facebook, sent me this news article updating the status of what’s going on. View here.

High Raw Food Intake – Pregnancy Food Journal – Monday

by Kristen Suzanne in Uncategorized

I went grocery shopping today because I’m now really staying consistently stocked up with tons of fresh organic produce since I can go into labor any day. I’ve also been stocking my freezer slowly with some organic cooked vegan foods as well as frozen fruit, prepped raw foods, and a BUNCH of raw, organic, unpasteurized coconut water. (I picked up a case of it today while I was at Whole Foods, so I can get 10% off… it’s not super cheap. Then again, if you think about it… the amount of coconut water in a large bottle would probably take 2-3 coconuts to get, maybe 4(?), AND this is organic with no additives, AND I didn’t have to crack it open – am I rationalizing – lol. That being said, I do find the meat that they sell separately on the expensive side. $11 for one coconut’s worth. Still… I picked one up today so I can make raw organic coconut yogurt!!!)

Anywhoo! Back to what I’m consuming today :)

Body Ecology Raw-Organic Coconut Water
Organic Raspberry Leaf Tea (iced)

12 oz organic blueberries – I LOVE blueberries

Vanilla Banana Protein Shake (water, ice, bananas, flax meal, Manitoba hemp protein powder & hemp seeds, Sun Warrior Natural Sprouted Brown Rice Protein Powder, vanilla bean)

Sprouted english muffin (toasted) with raw cashew butter – raw cashew butter is addictive!

Organic Green Juice (cucumber, celery, kale, kiwi, dulse flakes) - I think baby likes green juice

Giant Salad (spinach, tempeh, cucumber, carrot, raw dressing)
2 Chocolate Butter Truffles (pic on right)

Raw Kaia granola or another protein shake with frozen fruit (undecided yet)

37 Weeks Pregnant w/ Acute Bronchitis

by Kristen Suzanne in Uncategorized

Ai yai yai! It looks like I have acute bronchitis at 37 weeks pregnant. The past few days have been quite miserable with all of the coughing I’ve been doing – my torso aches. It was keeping me up all night and the one thing I need right now is tons of rest so I can be ready to have a homebirth at any time (now that I’m 37 weeks). It’s during the next 5 weeks that our baby can come (the fertility clinic predicts a mid-June birth but Monkey could definitely come earlier).

What am I doing for my bronchitis? I decided to see our naturopathic doctor because my cough was getting worse, and it was with him that we determined I probably have acute bronchitis. He sent me home with herbs, homeopathic meds, a rub for my chest, and directions to use steam, a saline nasal mist, and/or to consider using a neti pot (I hate those things… I’m lousy at using them). I’m feeling a little better, but I still have a ways to go before I’m completely healed.

In the meantime, we’re nesting. I have the baby clothes and cloth diapers washed, and the changing table is set up. (Our dear friend gave us her changing table and it’s sooo nice! – THANKS PAM!) I reviewed my birth plan and printed copies for everyone. We’re installing the car seat next week. I’m stocking my freezer with foods for after the birth. I need to have a hospital bag packed in the event of an emergency transfer (I’ll do that next week). I have my birth towels and receiving blankets washed and ready to use for the homebirth. That’s all I can think of right now…

So, we’re almost ready to go. I need to get some other work finished up for Kristen’s Raw (like my newest book I’m working on!), rest, and just wait for that moment when I say, “I’m in labor! Yeehaw!” It’s going to be awesome!

Review: Blue Mountain Organics Coco-Joy Bar

by Kristen Suzanne in Uncategorized

Blue Mountain Organics sent me one of their Coco-Joy Bars to review on my blog. I have to say… I was happy to write this review because I really enjoyed this snack (actually, I split it with my husband and he really liked it too). The flavors and textures were great! I would order this (or buy it in the store if I saw it) – again and again. I like having snacks like this on hand when I don’t have time to make my own. And, let’s be honest, I don’t always want to make my own. Sometimes I just like to buy it! :)

I also like their sunflower lecithin (for desserts, soups, smoothies, etc). It’s a great alternative to soy lecithin.

Have you tried any of their products? What do you like best?
