Raw Beauty Tip: Fruit On My Face

Hi Everyone!

Here’s a quick, easy, and “tasty” beauty tip! The next time you’re prepping some fruit or veggies for your salad, smoothie, or juice… take the parts you’re cutting off to throw away and rub on your skin for a quick nutrient packed mask. For example, when I cut off the peel from an orange or grapefruit, I take the inside of the peel (which has some flesh on it) and I rub it all over my face. If I’m cutting off the greens from strawberries, I rub the fleshy part on my face before tossing the greens into my bunny bowl (that’s the bowl of scraps I toss off our patio to the bunnies – they love organic produce!). Cucumbers, pineapple(!), papaya, and apples (I rub the apple’s core on my face) are awesome, too. These are natural and effective ways to enhance your beauty. Think about it… nutrients straight from the source, right? You’ll feel awesome while you’re doing it, too. Just remember to wash it off after about 5-10 minutes.

Vitamin C Prevents Vaccination Side Effects; Increases Effectiveness By Orthomolecular Medicine News

by Kristen in vaccines

I found this recent newsletter interesting and wanted to share it with my readers. I’m not advising for or against vaccines…. that’s an individual choice for each family, but the more information we have to help make those decisions, the better!

Vitamin C Prevents Vaccination Side Effects; Increases Effectiveness

by Thomas E Levy, MD, JD

(OMNS, Feb 14, 2012) The routine administration of vaccinations continues to be a subject of controversy in the United States, as well as throughout the world. Parents who want the best for their babies and children continue to be faced with decisions that they fear could harm their children if made incorrectly. The controversy over the potential harm of vaccinating, or of not vaccinating, will not be resolved to the satisfaction of all parties anytime soon, if ever. This brief report aims to offer some practical information to pediatricians and parents alike who want the best long-term health for their patients and children, regardless of their sentiments on the topic of vaccination in general.

While there seems to be a great deal of controversy over how frequently a vaccination might result in a negative outcome, there is little controversy that at least some of the time vaccines do cause damage. The question that then emerges is whether something can be done to minimize, if not eliminate, the infliction of such damage, however infrequently it may occur.

My 90-Day Clean Raw Food Mission – Kristen Suzanne’s Raw Reboot™ – Update #7

I have more to say about my update but I’m short on time so I’ll post more thoughts later. Basically… I’m eating a high fat diet to keep calories up to prevent weight loss because I am burning too many calories. Most days it’s not a big deal but I do have some days where I just don’t want all the fat. I’d love some beans or something. But, I’ve kept with the raw. I’m second guessing my raw reboot during a time where I’m burning so many calories.

I’m more than 1/2-way through the journey. Today marks 49 days. I’m on such a roll but I need to listen to my body. I’m thinking the plan might be this… Keep going until I complete day 60. Then, I’ll start the second stage of my Raw Reboot which includes some cooked vegan foods, but limiting it to beans, lentils, tofu, oats, etc. I won’t include bread or pasta or refined foods like that.

Meanwhile, here’s my food journal…

PS. I LOOOOOOOOVE MY NORWALK JUICER!!!!!!!! I can’t wait to tell you all about her!!!!!!!

Kamea Models an Organic Flap Happy Hat & Giveaway Time!

I was offered the opportunity for Kamea to get her hands on one of these cute organic flap happy floppy hats. That’s something we can use year round here in sunny Arizona. I jumped at the chance.

Trouble was…. I couldn’t get her to wear it. She’s going through a no-hat stage right now, but that’s ok. I know she’ll grow out of the phase (fingers crossed) and the hat will still fit when she does (fingers still crossed).

In our attempt to get a pic of this adorable hat, I offer you this “action” shot. You’d never know that a nanosecond after we got the shot, she took it off because she sure looks like she’s loving it. I know I am!

Kamea Modeling Organic Bamboo From Bamboosa

I’m all about doing as much as we can with respect to organic, eco-friendly clothing for my family. Although my closet is a work in progress (too much to overhaul all at once), Kamea only wears organic (or at the very least, clothing made from eco-friendly, non-toxic, and sustainable materials).

My 90-Day Clean Raw Food Mission – Kristen Suzanne’s Raw Reboot™ – Update #6

Shimmer shimmer… shine shine…. happy days… I am feeling amazing. From head to toe, I feel electric. It’s like my cells, nerves, and every part of me is glowing inside, healing, vibrating with an energy I can barely describe, but it’s just oh so beautiful… My transformation to Total Ethereal Goddessness is working.

It’s a work in progress, but it’s happening. How am I doing it? Is it just the awesome, effortless, pure raw food I’m eating? No. It’s not so simple (yet, it actually does feel that simple, natural, if that makes any sense). Yes, I’m eating an amazing raw organic diet (What is it now? About 34 days into my 90-day plan?), but that’s not all. For those of you who have been following my journey, you know I’ve been doing enemas, yoga, meditation, dry skin brushing, creating new routines for my beauty regimen, etc. But, I still have more. I want to do better with conscious chewing, I want grow my own food, and meditation needs mastering. One thing at a time though.

BPA? In My Glass Mason Jar Lids?! Crap.

by Kristen in Kristen Suzanne, raw food

Thank you for sharing in the excitement of my purchasing a Norwalk Juicer! After I bought it, I was envisioning how my juicing process will be. In the past, I used quart size glass mason jars, but I decided I wanted to move to pint size and drink a pint at a time, so that means my juices will get less exposure to oxygen if I store them in smaller quantities.

OMG! I Bought a Norwalk Juicer

by Kristen in Kristen Suzanne, raw food

Holy shit! There goes my potty mouth again. I guess I’m starting to get more comfortable around you guys. I ordered a Norwalk Juicer. Do I even need to say anymore???? Ok, I will! I ordered it on Sunday night. :)

Greg and I have been talking about the awesomeness of the Norwalk Juicer (a.k.a. the ultimate in juicing, hands down, the highest quality, bestest – yes, I just wrote “bestest” juice, because it warrants that. Ever. On the planet.) I’m sure you can sense a bit of my excitement. Where was I? Oh yeah, Greg and I have been discussing the Norwalk for about three years. I’ve had it on my vision board since then. Recently, we decided to take the plunge and buy the sucker!

Let’s just be honest and to the point. This post involves talk of colons, poop, speculums going up the bum, and more. Therefore, you might want to pass.
