Today has been such a lovely day. The sun is shining, the weather is beautiful and life is good. As cliche as it sounds, I’m taking the time to smell the roses and boy-oh-boy what a difference this can make in everyday life. I know we all have goals that we want to attain, but what fun is that achievement if we don’t take the time to appreciate the little daily occurences in our lives or to simply slow down our minds and just relax. My mom recently told me about a “10-second stress buster” she read about in a magazine. It’s great for helping you relax and be in the present moment. Simply repeat one word, any word, slowly (and silently, if desired) to yourself. Apparently, like meditation, this will help transition your brainwaves from active beta to calming alpha waves. I did this today (my word was “rose”) while I was smelling the roses (literally) that my boyfriend bought me for Valentine’s Day. I felt peace, joy, and appreciation flow through me from head to toe.
For more fun! Check out this amazing short video. This woman found this lion hurt and about to die. She took him home to care for him. When the lion was better she called the local zoo. Check out the reaction she received when the lion saw her.
Tonight, my boyfriend and I are going to my mom’s for a few days where we’ll be juicing up a storm! It’s going to be a few days of watching dvds, playing games, and hiking in the White Tank Mountains. I’m so excited!
