Today I had a nutritional blood analysis and I’m really excited to get the results. I always get my routine blood analysis done yearly for things like B12, vitamin D, cholesterol, iron, etc. But, this is a unique panel that will tell me how the nutrient levels in my body are. It’s a micronutrient test for nutritional deficiencies which I think is extra important while breastfeeding. This is the image from SpectraCell’s website. I had the blood drawn at a facility called Any Lab Test Now.
Results will arrive in 10-14 days and I’ll let you know how they turn out.
Food Journal Time! I love that y’all are excited when I post what I’ve eaten for the day. Today is High Raw, Organic (vega is 65% organic), and Vegan. Supplements: B12, D, vegan DHA, chlorella, zinc, iron, probiotics.
Breakfast part 1: Cantaloupe Slushie (I changed the name to Slushie because it sounds more fun). This could very well be my drink of the summer. If you have kids, this is a MUST MAKE! Take 1/2 of a cantaloupe (or any melon). Cut off the peel, take the seeds out, and blend it with a cup of ice. Kamea loved it – so cute – the little sips she was taking from mine.
Breakfast part 2: Thirty minutes after my Cantaloupe Slushie (just following a basic FoodCombo principle, the melon one is one that I always follow), I then had one of those yummy Vega Choc-a-Lot shakes – I wrote about it yesterday ) This time I made it with water and no ice. It shakes up perfectly, just like they promised, and the taste was still really great. I’m so glad I tried this Vega product(!) because it’s fast going to become a regular in my routine. I prefer it with ice crushed in the blender (and almond milk takes it over the top in yumminess), but it was easy and great without.
Breakfast part 3: Once I was home from the blood analysis, I made us a kick-ass green juice that had cucumbers, swiss chard, dandelion greens, celery, and I put Ejuva’s Moflora probiotic powder in it. I had about 3 cups.
Snack: Cantaloupe Slushie in the same amount as before… 1 cup of ice blended with 1/2 cantaloupe (this time I included a few of the seeds) blended up in my Vita-Mix.
Snack: 1 papaya
Lunch: Green Smoothie (spinach, pineapple, and banana) followed by cucumber boat filled with smashed avocado, salt, and chopped basil, and a side salad of leafy greens topped with purple cabbage, and splashes of tamari and coconut secret’s vinegar. If you want a tasty fat free dressing, try that! I also had a Boku Bar.
Snack: 1 apple
Dinner: Big salad (romaine lettuce, shredded carrot, cubed tofu, raisins, cucumber, and 4-Ingredient Magic Dressing. Plus a side of lightly steamed broccoli.
Dessert: Cinnamon Banana Protein Shake
