I’m still eating a carnivore diet, but it’s crappier than when I was in the United States and ribeyes were easy to come by (i.e., always a store with them on sale).
As a result, I have not enjoyed my carnivore diet as much, but I’m enjoying amazing skin. It motivates me to keep going.
I also feel very well and that keeps me going.
I’m also in fear of what will happen to my waist, skin, strong immune health, digestion, headaches, etc if I start eating plants and/or carbs.
I found ground beef here, and it looks to be grass-fed. The price doesn’t hurt too much, in fact cheaper than grass-fed in the US. I’m not sure what that’s about or maybe I’m not actually eating grass-fed beef. 😳 Language barrier.
The downside is that I can only find ground beef with a fat content of 9-15% fat. I want more fat.
The ground beef is a bit dry and, again, not my favorite when eating it daily as a staple. Therefore, I’m finding other ways to add flavor and fat to my life:
- Salami
- Summer sausage
- Bacon
- Cheese
- Butter
- Coffee with LOTS of heavy whipping cream in each cup (like 5 cups a day)
My carnivore diet food journal has been something like this every day:
- Black coffee
- Decaf Coffee with heavy cream
- 5 eggs cooked with butter and a hefty dollop of Greek yogurt on top, decaf coffee with heavy cream
- Mackerel (canned), salami, cheese, decaf coffee with cream
- 1 pound ground beef cooked in butter, topped with Greek yogurt or cheese, decaf coffee with heavy cream,
- Decaf Coffee with heavy cream
Admittedly, I felt better mentally and physically eating ribeyes as my meals, and not drinking as much coffee. Those ribeyes were so good!
When I started the carnivore diet in January, I ate a varied diet with different meats, cheeses, eggs, etc. It was fun and fine. However, over time, I only felt really satisfied by beef. Later, that turned to feeling satisfaction with ribeyes especially.
These foods (eggs, cheese, sausages, cream) are not as awesome as the daily ribeye was.
I’m thinking about danishes while in Denmark. A lot.
That’s Greg and Kamea splitting a danish in Denmark 🇩🇰 while I had black coffee.
Not partaking, but just thinking about them, and throwing the word “danish” randomly into discussion about every 10th word.
So, now, I’m taking it one meal at a time. Getting through the meal and drinking enough coffee to keep me content (the coffee with heavy cream is super delicious). Eating bacon definitely helps, too, but I don’t love eating so much bacon/salami type meats. I don’t think that’s ideal for health.
Next up, the United Kingdom, to a little island off the south called Isle of Wight. I don’t have high hopes about finding ribeyes for a reasonable price, but you never know. It’s likely I’ll be taking a meal off the carnivore path here and there to experiment and make my life easier with respect to budget and traveling. I say that now, but my past behavior would suggest that I’ll just keep on with my carnivore ways… a meal at a time.
