Back when I was pregnant with Kamea about 8 years ago, I started playing Words with Friends on my iPhone.
Well, you know how you can play with strangers? I started a few games with strangers and one was with a guy named Karl.
The interesting things is that most of the games with strangers I was playing with either fizzled out and didn’t get finished (not because of me), or the game ended and wasn’t repeated.
But Karl was different.
We kept playing. And playing. Game after game with daily turns. For about 8 years so far!
And we’re still playing Words with Friends today.
Almost every day we’ve been playing Words with Friends for that long. Over the course of that time, we occasionally messaged a little chat via the chat system on Words with Friends, and got to know each other a bit.
When he knew we were coming to the UK, he invited us to stay with him for a few days on our travels.
I still chuckle and love the strangeness of the story of having met him via an online game. Then, staying with him in his home.
So, while we were in Wales already (having just finished a housesit), we went for a lovely visit to Karl’s house for the weekend.
We hung out in a few local pubs (more on the greatness of UK pubs in another post), where I ate ribeye. And, he took us to a quaint little seaside village, Tenby, that I’d love to go back to. This is a very walkable village, filled with cafes, ice cream shops, little stores, and lots of color. Though quite touristy, it was still fantastic fun and I’d highly recommend.
