Step 1: Love Yourself (Recap)
First, I recently shared Step One of my three-part formula for becoming a Happy Sexy Millionaire.
Pro-Tip: If you haven’t yet read my post on unconditional self-love, do yourself a big favor and read that, and then resume here.
It’s all about the vital component of loving yourself in order for your dreams to come true. The reason I talk about loving yourself is because, when you love yourself, you feel worthy and whole. Everything in your life becomes waaaaaay easier. And I mean everything. Including these meditations I’m about to convince you to make a powerful part of your daily ritual.
When I went through my transformation, I actually didn’t have self-love in my toolkit like I do now. This means it took me longer than it will take you to get to where I am. If I’d had this amazing self-love affair when I first started, I’d probably be even further along my journey to being a Happy Sexy Millionaire.
Step 2: Do Your “Law of Attraction” Meditations
I’ll describe these meditations in a moment. They were responsible for making me fall madly in love with my life, and myself. I clearly remember the morning in Cordoba, Spain, when I was doing my daily meditation. Suddenly, a feeling of worthiness washed over me. In that moment, something shifted. I realized what had been missing. That’s why I now teach about self-love first. It makes everything easier, including the potentially painful reprogramming that we all go through when we transform.
Why These Meditations Are Uber Beneficial for You (But You Don’t Have to Do Them)
Let me say something up front: You don’t need to meditate in order to manifest your ideal life.
Whaaaat?
You do, however, need to apply the Law of Attraction to your life, and that’s the crux of Step 2 in my formula.
The easiest way I’ve found to do this (after loving myself) is with these meditations, because they create radically stronger vibrations and energy with me, which you’ll learn below is absolutely required to manifest happily and effectively. They also help me focus and visioneer* my dreams.
*Visioneering is the process of creating pictures in my mind of what I want. Vision (Envisioning) + Engineering (Designing) = Visioneering.
Today’s post is all about the specific meditations I’m doing, the how and the why.
The Happy Sexy Millionaire Matrix
By regularly meditating, I tap into my Happy Sexy Millionaire Matrix, which is where I raise my energy and create (and design) my future. This not only feels f*cking amazing, in the moment (and after!), but it also brings me closer to the destiny I create because meditating helps me in five fundamental ways.
These meditations help me by:
- Reprogramming my subconscious — essential for living an epic life.
- Attracting my Happy Sexy Millionaire life faster, because the meditations follow the principles of the Law of Attraction.
- Making me feel on top of the world. Who wouldn’t want that? That’s worth the price of admission.
- Keeping my life’s vision front and center, generating an undercurrent of excitement every day. I feel like Tom Cruise in Minority Report where he effortlessly moved ideas and things around. Meditating with these meditations gives me a powerful feeling of “I’m creating this, yeah I want more of that, less of that, let’s move this around, etc.”
- Creating health and longevity because meditation has been proved to facilitate this.
All of these benefits, because I meditate. Every. Single. Day.
When I first declared my plan to be a Happy Sexy Millionaire (the series: post 1, post 2, post 3, post 4, and post 5), I used Dr. Joe Dispenza’s meditations to reprogram my brain and set me on the right path to my sparkling Happy Sexy Millionaire manifestation.
Why Do I Love Dr. Joe’s Meditations?
If these meditations are so powerful, you can guess that I’m a raving fan of Dr. Joe Dispenza. First, his meditations are unique and fun to do. Yes, fun. Really. It’s like being in Candy Land or Fairy Time. But that’s not all. His meditations are powerful and massively effective at making you feel amazing, helping you focus, and helping you get clarity on your life’s desires.
I only recently realized that Dr. Joe’s meditations are, in part, significant because they’re based on the “Law of Attraction.” (Though I’ve never heard him call it that.)
How The Law of Attraction Works
The “Law of Attraction” has been written about since the 1870s, but it gained popularity, when Napolean Hill described it in 1937 in Think and Grow Rich, one of the best-selling books of all time.
At its most basic and easy-to-understand level, the Law of Attraction is simply the idea that we attract what we think and feel. It’s a powerful combo of thoughts and feelings, with the “feelings” part creating a “vibration” (a natural energy) that attracts things to you based on the feelings you have.
In other words, it’s not just what we think that’s important. It’s what we think and feel. And, in particular, that the two match. For instance, that you both think and feel positively about something you seek to attract.
For the most part, that’s what happens naturally. When we think good things, we feel good. When we think bad things, we tend to feel bad. But for some things, you may think you want something, but deep down not actually feel that you want it, or that you’re unworthy. This incongruence leads to self-sabotage or lack of follow-through.
However, when the two match, you are said to be “congruent,” and that’s when the universe starts to move mountains for you.
Your thinking creates the thought of what you want (or how you want your life to be), and your feeling is what puts out an energy that attracts or repels what you want. In other words, you want your exciting ideas for your future to be matched (or congruent/coherent) with the thoughts and feelings in your heart, as often as possible… in order to manifest everything.
Best of all, when you dream big, you tend to feel great because you’re imagining this amazing life and things you want. The bigger, the better! Perfect! However, when you’re not dreaming and feeling great, you might get distracted with negative thoughts and feelings based on what’s going on in your life. Once you abandon feeling good to deal with those negative things, progress toward your dream goes into slow motion. The key is feeling as great as you can, as often as you can. And that’s, uummm, awesome… because who wouldn’t want to feel great as much as possible!?
So, that’s the Law of Attraction: Think well + feel well = do well. Since the days of Napoleon Hill, people have been manifesting legendary lives using this simple guiding principle.
Dr. Joe Takes It to The Next Level.
He gets much more specific in the details. He also explains it more scientifically, which I liked because it boosted my confidence in the validity of the concept.
Once it dawned on me that Dr. Joe’s work is just a the Law of Attraction without calling it that by name, I got even more excited because I realized there are a lot of people writing, teaching, and using this powerful process. More testimonials, more proof.
It’s Your Choice
You have a choice for manifesting your dreams and how you use the Law of Attraction to do it. You could go through your life and not meditate, still using the principles of the Law of Attraction, and attract a great life. A lot of people do this. They think about things they want, and they feel the elevated and uplifted emotions necessary to attract those things.
I prefer taking it deeper though… really deep. I’m after other-worldy experiences. I love closing my eyes and feeling like I’m jacking into the matrix of my future. It feels waaaaaaaay intense, and powerful, and effective when I do it that way.
These Meditations Are Vital for My Happy Sexy Millionaire Life
Dr. Joe’s meditations give me that fully immersive, matrixy experience. I’ve tried a lot of people’s guided meditations, and they’re not the same. Therefore, these specific meditations from Dr. Joe are a critical component to my process. They were important at the beginning of my journey, and they continue to be important now. There is no graduation, no point when you don’t need to do them anymore. It’s a permanent, incredible, new lifestyle.
His Meditations Have Served 2 Purposes For Me.
First, when I initially started doing them, they were instrumental in helping me reprogram my subconscious at lightning speed.
My transformation was radically fast. In that state of meditating, when Dr. Joe guides you into different brain wave states, it’s easier to change your programming, becoming a different person. Otherwise, it’s a bit like walking with a weighted backpack and cloudy vision. It takes longer. Working on this stuff in a specific mental state is absolutely the way to go.
When I say “change your programming,” I mean that you become a new person with a new mindset and personality. You become one of those people who seem to sail through life, attracting success with relative ease, as though everything they do just seems to “click.” We’ve all met them… wouldn’t it be amazing to be that kind of person, as though you were born that way?
So if you’re not living the life you want, you probably have bad programming. This means perceiving a limited world from a place of fear, stress, anxiety, anger, hot-headedness, frustration, sadness, or scarcity. Or maybe you only occasionally experience these limiting emotions. Well, even “occasionally” is too often in my book. Remember, you and I are going for full-blown epic-ness!
That’s where these meditations are absolutely brilliant. They get your brain into theta wavelength, which makes it much easier to go in and yank those crappy-ass mental weeds from your mind. Then, you plant new healthy seeds with fertile soil in your brain.
Anita Moorjani describes fears as “thought viruses.” Well, I inoculate myself from thought viruses by loving myself and by meditating daily.
I’m Not Going to Sugar-Coat This.
It takes WORK to change the wiring in your brain. But it IS possible. And extremely rewarding, not just after it’s done (it’s never actually done), but during the process, which makes it fun and exciting while you’re doing the work.
But just to be crystal clear, it takes time, energy, and work. And, you’ll start to notice benefits almost immediately. Once you make the change, you’ll live each day feeling like you’re literally floating. Light, bright, and lively. Resilient. Epic.
The Power of Ritual
When you do these meditations regularly, the repetition and consistency means you’re also tapping into the power of ritual. This empowers you because it becomes a habit you created with intention, giving you a sense of control in your life.
Taking the time to meditate like this requires commitment, and committing to it not only offers the promise of feeling great and centered, but it also makes you feel like you’re in charge, because you are.
This repetition also means you’re now firing and wiring on a regular basis. Once you’re reprogrammed, you then start using the meditations to manifest faster. Think of it like this… when you put in the time, your brain improves, gets stronger, and you live better, just like exercise. You don’t expect to get a firmer butt from not doing anything, right? You exercise and work out.
Well, it’s the same for your brain. Meditation is the exercise that makes it way more powerful. Your ability to focus and stay on track improve. You also get better at creating, dreaming, inventing, learning, loving, processing, relaxing, and flowing.
Newbies Can Try One-Minute Meditation!
And, here’s the thing… newbies can start this whole process in just one minute. Truly. I’ll say it again. You can start with only one minute! If you’re not meditating yet, then add one minute to your calender to meditate every day this week. Then next week, you make it two minutes. The following week is three minutes per day.
During your one minute of meditation, you can sit in simple silence and watch your thoughts go by, like clouds. Or you can count how many times you breathe in that minute. Or, you can listen to some music (no lyrics) that is calming, and, again, just watch your thoughts. This will get you into the habit.
From there, we can work toward moving into longer meditations guided by Dr. Joe, which I’ll describe next. That said, if you’re ready for huge changes sooner than later and you’re still new to meditating, then by all means, jump in with both feet!
Dr. Joe’s Meditations Work!
Weird as the meditations seem at times, Dr. Joe knows what he’s doing. He has years of experience in creating these meditations, and he studies thousands of people in his workshops all over the world. He hooks the people up to EEGs to measure their brain waves to see how they respond to the different things he says, different tones of voice, and different music that plays in the background.
In this way, he’s able to continually fine-tune his meditations, offering improved versions over time that people have responded to the most and are proved to work. This gave me confidence at the beginning, but in short order, I was experiencing so much benefits first-hand, that I no longer needed data to feel that what I was doing was worth the time. The benefits were obvious and profound.
As I mentioned in a previous post, Dr. Joe’s meditations are cinematic. As a result, when doing his meditations, it’s especially easy to think and feel the way you need to in order to manifest your dreams. His guidance and the accompanying music — his “formula” — makes it easier to create coherence between your heart and brain. As I’ve stated earlier, this is required to manifest your dreams quickly. (And it’s absolutely critical if your dream includes healing from a disease.)
Magic Carpet Ride
There are tons of books out there about the Law of Attraction, and examples of people successfully attaining their goals by using this fundamental principle. However, it’s easier said than done, because it’s not always easy to create that necessary heart and mind coherence. Sure, it’s a simple formula — it’s just two things that you have to do — but that doesn’t mean it’s easy. And that is why I love Dr. Joe’s meditations in particular. He takes you on a magic carpet ride! It’s so much easier to attain heart and brain coherence this way, and like I said, it’s way more fun.
Think of it this way… Imagine you needed to get into a house and the door was locked. You could climb onto the roof and try going down the chimney. You could break the glass windows. You could break down the door. That all seems like a lot of effort. Well, these meditations are like giving you the key to getting in the house, with hardly any effort. Just insert the key, turn it, and you’re in.
Now that I’ve convinced you to meditate (I have… right?), let’s talk about how I find the time to do it and the different ways I do it in my life.
Finding the Time to Meditate — How Badly Do You Want Your Legendary Life?
I’ll say it again: Reprogramming your brain takes time and commitment. These meditations take a minimum of 25 minutes a day (that’s a quickie), and more often take about an hour. You either want your epic life or you don’t. Or, maybe you want it but you don’t mind taking 10 years. That’s cool with me — it’s your life. However, I’m on the fast-track to manifesting, and living my legendary life is way too amazing to stop what I’m doing.
Now, I’m not saying you must use Dr. Joe’s meditations. I just highly recommend them because they freaking work. I resonate with them. I love them. I feel really good from the moment I close my eyes and begin. In fact, I’ve never once meditated and thought, “Oh that was a waste of time.” Hell no. It’s the opposite. I always feel mega-accomplished and suited up in my bulletproof armor. I open my eyes and I’m totally ready to take on the day.
That said… I am sure there are many Law of Attraction meditations you could try from others. If Dr. Joe’s style isn’t your jam, then try others. Heck, you can even do this without anyone’s guidance, and just go through some steps on your own. Your goal in this case would be to achieve what’s called an “open-focus,” which gets you into an alpha brain wave pattern. Then, you sink into blackness, stillness, nothingness, a state associated with the much slower theta brain waves.
In this state, you jump on your magic carpet and go for a ride designing your dream life. The thoughts you think — the actual dream you’re designing to live… plus the uplifted feelings and emotions you experience while thinking those thoughts — will work the Law of Attraction manifestation magic.
Have You Got Time for This? Yes, You Do.
I gotta tell ya, once you start doing these magic carpet meditations, it’s not difficult finding the time to make it a regular habit. The awesome way you feel — the pure pleasure — is all the motivation you need. This is why I have no problem making the time. I can’t wait to get to it each day. Not to mention, doing these meditations brings me closer every day to my chosen destiny!
I know people have time for this, because of one simple reason: It’s important. It boils down to this… If we want to manifest our extraordinary lives, we must do it consciously. That means we’re willing to do what it takes. Most people aren’t and that’s OK. But, I promise you that, once you get the groove of loving yourself and install the habit of meditating, you’ll start to see the results and it becomes self-fulfilling.
So, some practical tips: Maybe you need to wake up earlier. Maybe you need to drop one of your “must watch” TV shows. Maybe you need to switch your long workout to the much faster (and super effective) High Intensity Interval Training and Super Slow Weight Training.
Maybe you need to use social media less. Did you know that the average person spends over two hours a day on social media?! To what benefit? I’m here to tell you, meditation is rainbow-sparkle imagination time, and it’s better than any Netflix show could ever be. Make the time. Do the work. Enjoy the benefits today and always.
It’s not like I don’t have other things I could be doing, or that I never wonder if I should skip a day here and there. But I don’t because I know better. That means I simply “make” the time, come hell or high water. There are mornings that my mind wants to get straight to writing or I feel like I have a lot to do. But I still do the meditations and, you know what? My writing is better because of it. Everything I do is better. Not to mention the long term benefits of health, happiness, and manifesting my dreams.
OK, so you know it’s important to meditate and you’re going to find time to do it. Next I’ll share my meditation routine and some of my favorites from Dr. Joe’s collection. I’m hopeful that these will give you some inspiration and ideas for how to design your day.
Changing My Sleep Schedule
First, as I’ve said, I meditate every day. I don’t care if I have 7am flight out of Rome… I freakin’ wake up at 3am to make it happen. I treasure my sleep though! (OMG it’s massively important, so important I bought an Oura ring to track it.) I share this because, well two reasons. 1) Sleep affects every part of your life from your mood to your health. So don’t skimp! (More on this in a future post.) 2) I don’t just decide to wake up early on the day of the flight, cutting into my sleep time. Nooo hoooo hooo.
I chart and schedule that shit a week out! I start to transition my sleep time 15 to 20 minutes earlier each night to facilitate getting up earlier, so, by the time my travel day arrives, I’m easily waking in time to meditate. No lost sleep, no grumpiness.
When I began my morning mediation practice, I took a look at my schedule and figured out what time I need to go to bed in order to get a full night’s sleep, and wake early enough to meditate before the rest of my day begins. I have a daily alarm set telling me when it’s time to get ready for bed. As a result, I almost never miss a full night’s sleep or my morning meditation.
The Different Meditations I Do
Four mornings a week, I do the Morning meditation (this is a “quickie,” i.e., less than 30 minutes). On some of these same mornings, I also add the Generating Abundance meditation, for a total of ~50 minutes.
The other three mornings of the week, I opt for a longer, single meditation. It runs 45 to 60 minutes, depending on the meditation. I typically opt for an Energy Center* meditation or a Walking** meditation.
*Note: Dr. Joe offers four different Energy Center meditations, and it’s highly recommended that you do them in order so you can understand and build as you progress. The first one is nice and easy as you learn to focus on the different energy centers of your body. The second one has an epic finale that sometimes makes me cry tears of joy as I fully embrace the magnitude of my amazing life. The third one is takes you deeper in being open, tuning in, and creating a new consciousness to heal and create. The fourth is a very trippy, interesting experience, which I expect is particularly beneficial for healing.
**Note: Dr. Joe offers two Walking meditations. I like the first one, but I LOVE the second one. I do them in whichever apartment we’re living in at the time, so I don’t do them outside. I’m a large-and-in-charge manifesting mofo when I do this second Walking meditation, because it’s amazing. What’s more, there’s a unique benefit for your brain when you walk because of the bilateral rhythmic movement. It engages your left and right hemispheres of the brain — in the same way that popular tapping therapies use alternate-side eye movement or ear sound stimulation. It’s theorized that, used correctly, the rhythmic bilateral activity of walking could greatly accelerate psychological healing.
In conclusion, I meditate every morning, and sometimes it’s less than 30 minutes and sometimes it’s an hour. Either way, I am beyond grateful when I finish. Every. Single. Time.
Night Time Meditations (with My Husband)
I also meditate almost every nights.
When I first started meditating years ago, pre-Dr. Joe days, I found it easiest to meditate at night. In the morning, I had too much on my monkey-mind to stay focused on my breath. In bed at night, I was more relaxed. I found it a fabulous way to wind down and prepare for sleep.
When I started doing Dr. Joe’s meditations every morning, I also continued my nighttime meditation routine, but I started doing it with my husband. It’s especially easy to find time at night when Game of Thrones is no longer competing for our time. :)
The Whole Is Greater Than the Sum of the Parts.
Doing this together has incredible benefits. First, it brings us closer as a couple sharing a habit and ritual. I like to say, those who meditate together stay together. :) Second, synergy. During these meditations, we’re both experiencing the same uplifted emotional states and this generates an amazing energy field around and between us. It’s like The Force, surrounding us and binding our universes together. By laying side-by-side, we share and expand the energy. The whole is greater than the sum of the parts.
We make a deliberate choice to meditate, instead of watching TV or doing something else together. It’s worth it. Like I said before, I’ve never finished a meditation and thought, “Gosh, that wasn’t worth it.” I can’t always say the same for TV. We’re going for greatness, as a team. We’ve got big plans for our life. I’m not going to sit around just consuming all the time. I’m opting to create our future instead.
Scheduling it on the calendar makes it more likely to happen. All day long, I see it on my schedule, creating that plan, mindset, and expectation that it’s going to happen. And so, it does.
Our Nighty-Night Meditation Process
So, what’s our process? I literally schedule it on my iPhone for every night. We toggle back and forth between either a quickie (Morning or Evening from this option) or one of the longer ones (there are many).
It’s always after dinner, and we plan it such that, by the time we’re done, I still have an hour of time to read if I want before hitting the hay. For Greg, after the meditation he goes off to have Daddy-Daughter time with Kamea.
Plugging Into the Matrix
We do the meditation lying down in bed. Dr. Joe doesn’t typically recommend lying down, but in the evening, I love it. I have only rarely dozed off, maybe once every two weeks or so. Despite this, I know I’m benefiting. Best of all, I get mega relaxed and this gets me into theta faster. Even cooler, when I’m plugged in and wearing my Beats headphones (we use a splitter so we can both wear headphones), and I’m snuggled under my blankets, I feel like I’m totally plugged into the matrix (or I’m a Cylon from Battlestar Galactica — in that milky space bathtub thing).
That, folks, is my meditation routine. I do the work and it shows.
In the next post, I’m going to share the third part of my Happy Sexy Millionaire Formula, which is all about what to do when you’re “off the couch.” That is, when you’re not meditating and or in front of a mirror.
Keeping this magic feeling alive all day long takes more than Self-Talk Mirror Magic and meditation.
There are tricks to doing this and it’s our goal because the the longer we maintain elevated thoughts and emotions, the faster we become Happy Sexy Millionaires. Turns out, it’s one of the biggest challenges people face when drawing their destiny to them, and I’ve cracked the code!
