Have you started loving yourself yet?
Are you listening to the way you speak to yourself — the actual words you use? Is your life sparkling more as a result? Each day, it gets more fun and interesting.
Self-Talk Mirror Magic shifted my life to all-new heights. As a woman who’s passionate about my daily habit of it, I like to use it all day. But, this requires having mirrors everywhere.
When I’m at the gym, no problem. When I’m in the bathroom, I’m all set. But that’s not enough times or places. Self-love requires multiple moments if you want it to take effect quicker. Remember, fire and wire that brain. The more we fire up our self-love self-talk, the faster our brain wires it, and it becomes our default.
Therefore, I also keep a mirror by my desk, inspired by Louise Hay having one at hers. Such a brilliant idea! This way, I can check in with myself any time I’m writing or about to take a phone call. If I want a little pick-me-up, I flip open that puppy and blow myself a kiss. I really do this.
As I mentioned in my post about self-love, when we love ourselves, it’s the most effective way to teach our kids how to love themselves. We are the teachers. We are the role models. It’s silly to expect our children to behave a certain way if we’re not giving them examples to teach them.
My daughter also takes time for her own Self-Talk Mirror Magic every day.
At first, I introduced her to it by simply showing her what I was doing. My loving energy connected with her energy, and it inspired her. She loved seeing me so happy, and she wanted to do what mom was doing. Then, frankly, I put it on her daily to-do list as a reminder (parents can do that), and now it’s her habit, too. It all seemed weird and funny at first to her, but she quickly took to it and made it her own. Her attitude improved and her happiness increased. Her confidence, too!
Well, as I’m also a Go-Big-Or-Go-Home kind of gal, I looked for more ways to put my face in front of a mirror. I decided I wanted one to carry around in my pocket so I could grab it anytime I’m out and about. However, I didn’t have a mirror small enough for my pocket.
But, guess who did? Kamea! So, I asked her if I could borrow it to keep it in my jacket pocket while running errands.
Then, one day, I was at the gym and I texted her to see if she’d done her daily Self-Talk Mirror Magic yet. She said she hadn’t but that she would.
When I returned home, I asked her how her it went. I like to hear what she’s saying to herself. Sometimes it’s about her big dreams and goals and sometimes it’s about having a great day. It’s always inspiring.
She was on the couch when I asked her, looking really comfortable, and she admitted that she was too lazy to go to the bathroom mirror at the moment I prompted her about it from the gym. And, because I had her compact mirror with me at the gym, she didn’t have that on hand.
So instead, she invented “Selfie-Talk.”
Instantly intrigued. “What is that?” I asked, though I immediately had an idea from the word “selfie.”
She shared that she used her iPad and turned on the camera in selfie-mode to do her Mirror Magic. Ha! I friggin’ love it. Taking Self-Talk and turning it into Selfie-Talk. :) Who needs a mirror in your pocket when you have your smart phone with you?
No excuses now, friends.
