Christian The Lion – I Love This Story
Even though I’ve seen this a few times already, I still love watching it.
Here is a touching video about a lion who was raised by a couple of guys and then sent to the wild when he became too big for them to care for. The video shows what happened when they went to see him in the wild after being separated and he was considered a “wild” animal. (And, if you have seen it, you’ll probably want to see it again because it’s so sweet.) Oh, I love animals. They’re my biggest passion.
Enjoy this video and the following link to Dr. Ben Kim’s website, which is filled with lots of great health information.
Update: I was nominated for the third and fourth time for another blog award. Thank you so much to Vegan Tickles and Julie’s Raw Ambition for this honor :) I’m thrilled that so many people are enjoying my blog. Thank you to my readers. Y’all ROCK!

Pineapple – A Tropical Beauty
I love pineapple. I love its sunshine colored, juicy flesh. I love the sweet aroma and the Hawaiian vacation it takes my mind to when I have it. Check out the recipe below… a tropical elixir that is like a vacation in a cup.
Fresh pineapple is available year round, but its peak season is from March to July. It can be used in smoothies, juiced (juice the core, too!), eaten fresh, used in desserts, salads, salsas, and more. Pineapple has vitamin C, vitamin B6, manganese, copper, and digestive enzymes known as bromelain (a power house on many fronts). Cornell University showed that pineapple can reduce the formation of nitrosamines (potential carcinogens). But that’s not all! It’s a great refresher for your skin. If I don’t juice the core, I take it and rub it over my face and neck since it’s great for removing dead skin cells and exfoliating.
Pineapple selecting tips: It’s important to select a ripe pineapple when you’re in the store because it’s a fruit whose starch will not convert to sugar once it’s off the plant.
~ Choose a pineapple that is slightly soft to the touch, with leaves that are green and crisp (no brown or yellow tips). Being able to gently pull out one of the leaves is usually a good indication of a juicy ripe pineapple. So, next time you’re buying one, gently try to pick up the pineapple by pulling it off the display case by one leaf. If it doesn’t come out, try a different leaf. If after a couple of tries a leaf doesn’t come out… move on to another pineapple. Avoid pineapples with soft spots or bruises.
Pineapple Mango Colada
Yield 3-4 servings
1/2 pineapple, peeled and chopped
1 mango, peeled, pitted, and chopped (or 1 heaping cup frozen mango)
1 young Thai coconut, meat and water
1/2 teaspoon rum extract (more to taste!)
2 tablespoons raw agave nectar
1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
1 cup ice cubes
Blend all of the ingredients together, except the ice. Add the ice and blend until desired texture achieved.

Raw Vegan Bananas Foster – OMG!
Today I’m enjoying one of my all-time favorite recipes. Every time (and I mean it… every time) I make this for friends, family, or a class… it’s a huge hit.
Traditional Bananas Foster is one of my family’s favorites desserts, so I was tasked with making a Raw Vegan version that would knock socks off. All I can say is that I delivered :) This awesome recipe is available in both my print book and ebook, Kristen Suzanne’s EASY Raw Vegan Desserts.

Fluffy Green Smoothie
One my favorite green smoothie recipes is simply apples, spinach and cinnamon. I love how the apples make it “fluffy” and the spinach adds a lovely creaminess to it. And, if you use red delicious apples (they’re reported to have the highest levels of phytonutrients) then you get gorgeous little flecks of red swirling around as you drink.
We’re going to a party tonight where I’m certain there won’t be anything for me to eat. No problem though! And, certainly no complaints here. I’m simply going to tote along my Fluffy Green Smoothie to drink. (I love the conversation it starts anyway.)
Today’s Raw Vegan Food (so far):
Heavy Metal Nano Detox
Pine’s Wheat Grass Tablets
My Super Drink (I chug it down)
1 cup water
1-2 T hemp protein powder for protein, essential fatty acids and fiber
1/4 t camu powder (or 1 T Fruits of the Earth) for extra Vitamin C and nutrients
1 T freshly ground milk thistle seeds to cleanse my liver
1 T ground flax or chia seeds for more essential fatty acids to convert to DHA (important for pregnancy)
1 heaping T Vitamineral Green for more power greens
*The list above is pretty much how I’ve been starting every morning lately to help get my body ready for pregnancy.
Girly Sun Tea (alfalfa, nettle, raspberry leaf)
Fluffy Green Smoothie (1 1/2 cups water, 2 apples, 1/2 t cinnamon, 2 big handfuls spinach)
Fluffy Green Protein Smoothie (same as above but I’ve added hemp protein powder and Vitamineral Green)
I will likely have chocolate at some point during the day :)
