Black Mountain here we come!
The other day I took my daughter to find Black Mountain for hiking. I’d heard it was steeeeeeeep and a great workout.
We found it. We took some pics. We started our ascent. (Buns of steel here I come.)
This was just the beginning.
But, about 15 minutes in, my head was pounding so we turned around. We declared it a reconnaissance mission and went for oatmeal at the local coffee shop.

Today, I told my husband that for date night we’d go hiking and this time I’d make my way to the top. The promised 360-view was calling me.
We did it! Hard as heck as our hearts pounded in our chests (I’m a bit out of shape) and our legs burned as we climbed over jagged rocks up and up and up.
But wow what a workout!
We made it!

After we went for burgers.
I never would’ve seen this beauty if I hadn’t started walking.
I’ve been walking lately. A lot. And, it’s so fun.
My draw to walking came as the result of some life changes I’m making:
- To chill out.
- Hear and follow my intuition. (Like, wow, it’s amazing what happens when I listen to my intuition after quieting down my friggin’ cray-cray mind.)
- Overall, do fewer things in my day. (Fewer things on the schedule, go with the flow.)
One of my favorite quotes in Taoism is…
To attain knowledge, add things everyday. To attain wisdom, remove things every day.”
My intuition told me to walk, which would help me do less of other things, because walking a great distance takes time. My intuition told me I needed it. I’ll be honest… It helps me clear my mind, and a clear mind is a powerful mind.
So, I started walking. And, I walked a lot.
I found that being out in nature, especially during the season of spring was extra special, and I couldn’t help but stop to notice and feel all of the colors and life surrounding me outside in nature.
I found myself looking at plants as they were about to blossom, excited to come back the next day and see the full bloom. Tracking the progress with pictures became an adventure.
(day 1) Hello, pretty.
(day 2) “And the time came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful then the risk it took to blossom.” Anais Nin

Lemon water did more than I realized.
Here’s a day in my life.
700 am Wake up naturally. Sometimes I oil pull at this time.
715 am Drink some spring water with organic lemon juice squeezed in. I’ve heard about people doing this forever. I never got into it… til now. I read recently that drinking it on an empty stomach does something to help digestion, which helps you better absorb nutrients from your food later. Interesting. Okay, I’ll try. (The rule is that it’s on an empty stomach and you don’t eat for about 30 minutes.)
717 am Rebounding to start moving, getting the kinks worked, blood flowing, and because it’s fun. (Bellicon is the best rebounder.)
740 am Brew Upgraded coffee in my groovy Technivorm coffee pot. While that’s brewing I get other ingredients ready to make Greg’s and my Bulletproof Coffee (Greg likes his in a cold shake form), or I grab my Bulletproof Frozen Cubes.
745 am Make Kamea’s breakfast (usually gently scrambled eggs – something like this)
